Discussions include healthy relationships, violence prevention, bullying, media literacy, body image, mental health and self care. Format integrates interactive fun activities such as crafts, applied theatre and journaling. Skills are developed in the areas of relationship violence prevention, disordered eating and substance misuse in a safe confidential, non-judgemental atmosphere. Groups are facilitated by an adult facilitator and a trained peer facilitator.

Peer Facilitation Training is another exciting and important component of Girls Group. Each year older teen girls are selected to participate in over 25 hours of valuable leadership training. These are the young women who go on to co-facilitate the groups. The next Peer Facilitator Training is being planned for Fall 2011
Dozens of pre-teen and teenage girls have attended the psycho-educational/support groups that help participants navigate their way through the challenge of adolescence.
In a safe, fun and non-judgemental environment, girls learn valuable skills in communication, conflict resolution, and assertiveness to assist them in maintaining healthy relationships and encourages development of strength, courage and honesty leading to enhanced critical thinking, self-awareness and decision making skills. In a supportive atmosphere, girls gain awareness and understanding of issues that affect their lives such as the media, societal influences, diversity, body image, violence prevention, family issues and friendships.
