November 25th is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
In 1999, the United Nations designated a day for governments and organizations to raise public awareness about the elimination of violence against women. November 25 is also the first day of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence, which runs until December 10 (International Human Rights Day). The 16 Days is an international campaign aimed at changing customs and attitudes that perpetuate violence against women and includes International Women Human Rights Defender Day (November 29), World Aids Day (December 1), International Day of Disabled Persons (December 3), and the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women (December 6).
