In an emergency Call 911!
The Comox Valley Transition Society works cooperatively with other agencies and with the community as a whole to raise awareness of issues of violence against women and to improve the quality of life for Comox Valley women, children and families.
Each year, we organize a Montreal Massacre Memorial for the community, including the annual " Shoe Memorial" on the plaza in front of the Comox Valley Art Gallery and the annual candlelight vigil on the lawn of the Courthouse
During the last week of April each year, we organize an awareness event, such as a film festival, art display or series of workshops. This year, the event is the Comox Valley Purple Ribbon - Peace Begins At Home Campaign.
CVTS participates in a number of community committees, such as
1. AHERO (Ad Hoc Emergency Resources Organization)
2. VAWIR (Violence Against Women In Relationship) Committee
3. 19 Wing Comox Family Violence Crisis Team Advisory Committee
4. Menatl Health and Addictions Rehabilitation Committee
5. Regional District Standing Committee on Housing and Homelessness
CVTS provides training and / or presentations to staff, volunteers, and clients of other agencies and to students. These are generally on the theme of violence against women, dating violence, violence in the workplace, healthy relationships, services to women and children and homelessness.
CVTS develops and delivers workshops on a variety of topics to community groups, at their request. We are able to tailor these workshops to meet the stated needs of the group.
